Samo Agri Foods

Our story

It started at home

Before there was a company there was a family keeping poultry at home. That discipline of producing food carefully, for people we know, became the operating standard the company is built on.

  1. Beginnings

    Poultry at home

The Samo family began with poultry at the family home, building the disciplines of feeding, housing and straightforward selling that still define how the company operates.

  2. 2024

    First cages at Itumbuli

Thomas Samo founded the fish farm at Itumbuli on Lake Victoria, in Buchosa, Mwanza, and the first cages went into the water.

  3. 2025

    Licensed to farm the lake

A five-year commercial aquaculture permit was granted: PMT/AQ/02, valid 2025-2030, placing the operation on a licensed, regulated footing.

  4. 2026

    The company is incorporated

On 22 July 2026 SAMO AGRI FOODS LIMITED was incorporated as a private company limited by shares, owned by six family shareholders: Thomas, Prisca, Erick, Emmanuel, Benjamin and Benedicto Samo.

  5. Today

    One chain, one family

Emmanuel Thomas Samo manages the farm day to day, and the family runs one integrated chain from lake, land and herd to market, under the standards the company was built on and the governance a registered company requires.
